  6.    NOTE: BEFORE YOU INSTALL SOLVEIT! PLEASE EXIT ALL PROGRAMS. EXIT
  7.    WINDOWS. AND EXIT ANY DOS SHELLS. GO TO THE DRIVE THAT YOU WISH TO
  8.    INSTALL TO, FOR EXAMPLE C:\>. (YOU CAN RUN SOLVEIT! UNDER WINDOWS,
  9.    BUT IT IS EASIER TO INSTALL THE PROGRAM IF WINDOWS IS NOT RUNNING!)

  11.    THE SHAREWARE RELEASE IS NO LONGER DISTRIBUTED WITH AN INSTALL PROGRAM.
  12.    THERE ARE THREE REASONS FOR THIS. 1) THE INSTALL PROGRAM TAKES UP ABOUT
  13.    50K AND WE DON'T THINK THAT IT IS NECESSARY FOR PEOPLE WHO USE BBS's TO
  14.    TAKE THE ADDITIONAL TIME TO DOWNLOAD IT. 2) DISK VENDORS LIKE TO PACKAGE
  15.    SEVERAL PROGRAMS ON A DISK AND OTHER PROGRAMS COULD CONFLICT WITH OUR
  16.    INSTALL PROGRAM. 3) FINALLY OUR PROGRAM IS SO SIMPLE TO INSTALL, YOU
  17.    REALLY DON'T NEED AN INSTALL PROGRAM.

  19. Install Overview...
  20.  
  21.    Basically, just copy either SLVIT43.zip or SLVIT43.exe to your
  22.    hard disk, use PKUNZIP to unzip if you have SLVIT43.zip or RUN
  23.    SLVIT43 to decompress if you have SLVIT43.exe, and run 'SLVIT4'
  24.    to start the program.

  26.    Please see 'Manual Installation' below for details if you are not
  27.    familiar with how to do the above steps.

  29.    Neither your CONFIG.SYS nor your AUTOEXEC.BAT need to be modified
  30.    in order to run SolveIT!. (You may put the \SLVIT4 directory in
  31.    your PATH if you wish. See your DOS manual for details under PATH.)

  33. Microsoft Windows Users...
  34.  
  35.  AFTER SolveIT! is installed on your hard disk, see the instructions
  36.  in the file WINDOWS.COM for details on how to run SolveIT! v4.3s
  37.  under Windows.

  39. Hardware necessary to run...
  40.  
  41.  To Install SolveIT!, you must have an DOS (IBM compatible) computer
  42.  with at least a 286 chip running DOS v2.1 or greater. You must have a
  43.  hard drive with at least 1mb of FREE disk space. You may run the program
  44.  on a 720K floppy, but you have to have a hard drive to install it first.
  45.  You also need approx. 544k of free conventional RAM.
  46.  
  47. Upgrading From Earlier Versions...
  48.  
  49.  If you are upgrading to this version of SolveIT! from an earlier
  50.  version, make sure that you install to a NEW directory on your hard
  51.  drive!! The data files that are created by this version of SolveIT!
  52.  are NOT compatible with versions prior to v4.0 (sorry). Therefore, you
  53.  may want to keep an earlier version of your program on the hard drive
  54.  until you reenter any date that you might have been using.

  60.  If you don't have SLVIT43.ZIP but rather SLVIT43.EXE, see install method 2.
  61.  This method assumes that you have a copy of PKUNZIP 2.04g installed
  62.  and in your DOS PATH.

  64.  To install SolveIT! using the manual method, we suggest that you do the
  65.  following:

  79.   C:\SLVIT4>Del SLVIT43.ZIP    <enter>   Gets rid of the unnecessary
  80.                                          zip file.

  91.    If you received your copy of SolveIT! from a disk vendor (and not
  92.    downloaded from a BBS, then the program should come to you in a self
  93.    extracting, archive file. That is, you'll have SLVIT43.EXE and
  94.    NOT SLVIT43.ZIP.)
